GÜL YILDIZ (1983), writer, poet. She studied Sociology and Central European Studies. She has written her thesis on the functions of the Aristotelian model of catharsis in fairy tales at the University of Miskolc in Hungary. She has studied Greek language, culture and history at the University of Ioannina in Greece. She has also participated in the course of study named ‘Shakespeare’s Hamlet: The Ghost’, offered by Harvard University. Gül Yıldız was an editor of Cumhuriyet Daily and various magazines including Hürriyet Kırmızı and Kampüs. She also worked as a freelance editor and translator for numerous publishing houses. She has translated many books including the works of Lewis Carroll, Whoopi Goldberg, Wassily Kandinsky, Thich Nhat Hanh, James Joyce. She also writes book reviews for several newspapers. Her poems, stories and essays have appeared in literary magazines called Varlık, Çevrimdışı İstanbul, Hayal, Edebiyatta Üç Nokta, Caz Kedisi, Karangu, Fin Fanzine, Olası Olmayan, Kısa ve Öykü, Dünyaların Çoğulluğu and some compilation books as well. She is the author of the books named “Tutsak Çağrışım” (Marjinal Books, 2013), “İstihare” (Hayal Publishing, 2014) and “Gerçeküstü” (Lethe Books, 2021). Her collection of poems, “Öz” (2019) is published by Lethe Books.
